In the 100 push up challenge week 19, we introduce the Lateral Leg Push Up int the mix. This is a weekly challenge running all Year, getting progressively more difficult, from basic to super extreme!

Week 19 of the Challenge is here and this week we are bringing in another complex push up variation - The Lateral Leg Push Up.

This is a lot more difficult than it looks. You need a decent amount of hip mobility to really pull it off perfect, so don't beat yourself up if they aren't on point.

But right now, let's get into the workout.

The 100 Push Up Challenge Week 19

The Workout

Set 1 - 20 Lateral Leg Push Ups
Set 2 - 20 Alligator Crawl Push Ups
Set 3 - 20 Shoulder Tap Push Ups
Set 4 - 20 Tricep Extensions
Set 5 - 20 Typewriter Push Ups​

Ok, so we are on a little bit of a mobility kick at the moment, but mobility under tension.

This is particularly important for calisthenics and gymnastics because a lot of the advanced require it.

Building this mobility will help you improve your Range Of Motion (ROM) and will directly help your more advanced skill transitions.

How To Do Lateral Leg Push Ups

Similar to the Spiderman Push Up, with Lateral Leg's you are bringing one leg out to the side each rep.

You can either do these alternating or one side then the other, depending on space available, but I would recommend doing them alternating.

Start as normal, like a regular old push up, but as you start to come down (the negative) bring one leg out straight as wide as you can.

Pause at the bottom with one leg out, and then push up andreturn your Lateral Leg to the starting position.

One Rep in the Bag!

Now do another one with the other leg out, up to 20 Reps.
